The Lindale Church of Christ
Our Bible Classes
Weekly Bible classes for all age groups are conducted here on Sunday mornings preceding worship services and again on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm. Our Bible Class teachers take their work seriously and work hard to prepare scriptural and informative lessons from the Bible. Because the Bible shows the lost how to be saved and the saved how to live and serve God, we believe this kind of teaching and learning of God's Word is vitally important for all.
Our Worship Services
In case you are not familiar with our worship services, they are designed to honor God and edify worshipers as taught in the New Testament. This is why our assemblies include SINGING (Eph. 5:19-20), PRAYING (1 Cor. 14:15-16), TEACHING AND PREACHING (Acts 20:7; 5:42). On Sundays, we also observe the LORD'S SUPPER (Acts 20:7; 1 Cor. 11:23-26) and GIVE as God has prospered us (1 Cor. 16:1-3).
While visiting our worship services, you are our respected guest. Be assured
that you will neither be imposed upon nor embarrassed in any way.
Our Work
In addition to the work of edification, we seek to accomplish in our Bible classed
and worship services, we are also striving to follow the Bible pattern for the local
church in evangelism and benevolence.
IN EVANGELISM, the gospel is preached at our local meeting place weekly. Gospel
meetings are scheduled here at least twice a year and home Bible studies are conducted
by appointment. In addition, we are currently helping with the support of several gospel
preachers in other places. You will find their latest reports posted in the foyer.
As opportunities and resources permit, we also help in providing support for preachers to
conduct gospel meetings for smaller churches in other areas.
IN BENEVOLENCE, we help take care of the needs of our own members who cannot care
for themselves (as the church in Jerusalem did, Acts 4:34-35). In addition,
we help needy saints in other places as we can and according to Scriptural precedent
(Acts 11:27-30); 2 Cor. 8, 9; Rom. 15:25-31; 1 Tim. 5:16). On an individual
basis, all members are taught and encouraged to visit the fatherless and widows
in their affliction (Jas. 1:27) and to do good toward all men as they have opportunity
(Gal. 6:10).
IN DISCIPLINE, we withdraw ourselves from brethren among our number who walk disorderly
by the practice of sin and who refuse to repent (2 Thess. 3:6). We do this
to obey God, to save the sinner (1 Cor. 5:5), and to keep the church pure (1 Cor.
5:7).
Our Aim
As a church, we are "striving for the faith of the gospel" (Phil. 1:27) and seeking
to be a church after the New Testament order in every respect, involving ourselves
only in such divinely authorized activities as already mentioned and refraining
from those for which we find no Bible authority. Accordingly, we are non-denominational,
independent and self governing. We have no organic ties with any other church
or institution. We are determined to let the church be the church as God intended
and to keep it free from unscriptural involvement in secular, political, social,
and recreational activities. Our aim is to honor and please God by doing His
work in His way and encourage others to do likewise.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or if we can be of service
to you in any way.
